    Description

This could be a neat summer project with much potential for the right person.
I believe this is a Silvertone branded model 670 made by Kay. I haven’t encountered many of these in the past but my best guess by the hardware and appointments should date this to the late 1940s-1950 era. (I’m not an expert on dating these).
Overall it will need restoration. The body displays multiple repaired cracks (mostly on the top) but still retains its original sunburst finish. It measures roughly 17.25 inches across the bottom bout and roughly 3.5 inches depth. It has a really nice real flamed Maple back
The neck appears straight and the frets are surprisingly still in overall good condition (probably thanks to a lifetime of flat wound strings). The “no line” Kluson gears are there missing their buttons. Looks like an older replaced hand cut bone nut. (Scalloped….that’s a first!).
You can see the heavy finish wear on the rear of the neck. Someone really loved and played this guitar extensively through the years
The tailpiece and bridge appear original. I read the neck joint glues on most of these Kay’s failed through the years so it came off for me rather easily. It will now fit in a smaller shipping box Take a look at the pics as they are part of the description.
The first bidder gets it after adding an additional shipping by UPS in the Upper 48 US States. Sorry no bidders from Alaska Hawaii or Puerto Rico. Sold as a non functional project for restoration. No returns. Local pickup for free is welcome in Philadelphia PA.
Please check my extensive perfect positive feedback as I describe all my auctions carefully and as accurately as possible. Rest assured this will be professionally packed with bubble wrap for a safe delivery. Feel free to message with any questions. Thanks. Joe.
